GAULA BOG had no history anywhere on any map when the clock started on Sakhal, and none was needed by the time it stopped — fifteen minutes, one session, zero kills, and a bleed-out that the paperwork lists as the second thing that found him.
“He had the instinct to run. He just filed it about four minutes late.”
The first encounter was survivable, if inelegant, and knocked him down to a health reading that should have ended the outing right there as a lesson rather than a footnote. He did not take the lesson. The second encounter came in at eleven hits and did not ask for a rematch, and by the time GAULA BOG understood he was being hunted rather than merely bothered, the running had become the whole plan and the whole plan had a hole in it. He bled out somewhere in the gap between deciding to flee and actually doing it.
