SunshinyBread10 had no prior record on any map, anywhere, when the clock started on Sakhal — and one hour and forty-four minutes later, with something on their heels, they ended the file themselves.
“The chase was still on the clock when the subject called it. That's not a loss. That's a subject who read the sheet correctly and didn't wait for someone else to grade it.”
The ledger shows a debut run that earned its keep: twelve separate run-ins with the infected, one of them a seventeen-hit mauling that would have finished lesser résumés outright, and a single firefight that left its signature in a health bar that bottomed out well below halfway. No kills to their name, but none were owed. By the time the hunting started in earnest, the body had already spent everything it had on staying upright.
The file closes clean, in the sense that these things ever close clean — a first life, unfinished by any hand but the one that opened it, with the pursuit still technically in progress when the last page was written.
