This was not a starvation case, not an exposure case, not a fall, not a fight. The ledger records no mechanism at all, which is its own kind of entry: a man who out-argued the infected six times in one sitting and then left no trail for anyone to follow. The paper has covered ten of his prior lives, the longest of them a full day and change, most of them ending by his own hand, most recently on Sakhal, where he apparently found something worth living for. Livonia has now watched him die six separate times without once getting a clean explanation, and this one it isn't even trying to supply.
