He absorbed five separate run-ins with the infected, the worst a seven-hit mauling that dropped him to forty-two percent and somehow didn't finish the job. Something else did, later, quietly, off the page. His usual method — suicide, reliable as weather — sat this one out. For once the record can't even blame him.
